The Canton Fair is important that before you go to the fair you already have figured out which phase will hold the suppliers of the product you are looking to buy or source. You can find the categories of the phases here!
1.Most of our clients have already a list of suppliers with their individual quotations for the products they need. This lets them have a better idea of the market price of the product and speed up negotiation process leaving them time to look at other options.
2. Be patient and try to inquire with most of the suppliers located in the pavilion of your interest, not only price but:
* Markets they have sold before? Which markets have they exported to?
* If they have worked in your market before be sure to ask them if they have worked with your competition! You don’t want to sell the same product design in the same market. It might ruin your business.
* Have they worked with famous brands? Which brands are these?
* Factory location… Would it be alright to visit your factory?
* Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ).
* Quantities needed to get discounts, percentage of discount.
* Factory capacity (how much products they can make in 1 day / 1 month)
These questions will not only help you measure the experience of the company you might work with, but will also give you an idea about their price range.
3. Let the suppliers do the talking; you’ll be amazed about what they say about their competition.
4. On their catalog, write the price they have offered you and when you go back to your hotel request an appropriate quotation. During the Canton Fair some suppliers offer you anything to distract you from other options, so if they mean what they say, an appropriate quotation will be no problem.
5. Keep track of the suppliers you have visited and make a comparative analysis on their product prices, quality, payment terms, etc. This is why you are going to the Canton Fair anyways, right?
